Every second year the CBS in conjunction with St Mary’s School run two exchanges to Germany. 
These are for second and fifth years respectively. 
These exchanges have been running for years and have proven to be very successful. 
The German students normally come over at Easter and the Irish students go at the beginning of June. 
There are three sight seeing tours organised for both the Irish and the German students in both countries. 
The CBS is responsible for the second year exchange. 
This is with a Gymnasium called Haus Overbach in Jülich near Cologne. 
The relationship with this school is one of long standing and originated
from an exchange of the CBS Band and the Haus Overbach Orchestra. 
The students have the opportunity of going to Germany again in fifth year to a Gymnasium in Hünfeld near Fulda. 
These exchanges afford the students the chance of immersing themselves in German culture,
of living with a German family, of experiencing German school at first hand. 
This is all done in a very safe environment and under the supervision of two Irish teachers.
