ATHLETICS NEWS

Well done to Ben Walshe who has added the Munster Schools Cross Country Minor title to his Tipperary and East Munster Cross Country titles. He lead from start to finish on a flat mucky course in Clarecastle, Co. Clare. Ben has now qualified to compete in the All Ireland Schools Cross Country Championship in Santry, Dublin, on the third of March. The minor team, although inexperienced at this level, ran bravely but just missed out on a medal on this occasion.

In the intermediate race, Cian Hodgins was first Nenagh CBS athlete home. He finished in an excellent 7th place, with only a host of underage international athletes in front of him. More surprisingly, Cian and his fellow team mates are still underage for intermediate category next year. In the team event, Nenagh CBS fought hard to win an excellent silver medal, thus qualifying the team to race in the All Ireland Championships next month. The scoring team members along with Cian were Jamie Moloney, Tom Walshe and Seán Hayes.
