Continued Athletic success for Juniors and Seniors.
On Thursday 12th May Nenagh CBS had their best medal haul at the East Munster Schools Athletics championships held in Templemore. 19 different athletes from the school won a medal and a record number have qualified for the Munster Championships. The medal winners were Luke Purcell, Cian Hodgins, Sean Moylan, Sean Hayes, Mark Carroll, Ben Connolly, Justin Dumitru, Ben Walshe, Diarmuid Moloney, Michael Hennelly, Daniel McKelvey, Christopher Diasonama, Charlie Forde, Charlie Cairns, Ryan Amodeo and finally, Kevin Finn. Indeed, many of the athletes took home more than one medal. Fitness levels are high, and these athletes are enjoying their chosen sport. A sign of this is the most recent successes of the squad at the Munster Schools Championships which were on in Templemore on Saturday 21st May. Well done to our new Munster Champion, Ben Walshe, who took gold in the u/16 Mile race. We had three athletes who fell just short of the gold, winning brilliant silver medals, Christopher Diasonama in the Minor 100m, Luke Purcell in the Senior 5000m and Mark Carroll in the Senior Long jump. We also had two bronze medal winners. Cian Hodgins in the Senior 1500m and Kevin Finn in the Minor 800m. An honourable mention goes to Sean Hayes who went under two minutes for the Senior 800m coming fourth and to our 4x 100m relay team who ran well in their final.
This success has been recognised by the awarding of the accolade of Best Athletics Team in East Munster.
