CBS students return to UCC Debating Competition

We wish Ms Alison Collins and the debating team every success in the new round of UCC debates for second level students
CBS students return to UCC Debating Competition

5th year students and supporters travelled to UCC with their debating coach Ms Alison Collins recently. CBS Nenagh debating team who represented the school in the first round of the UCC Philosophical Society All Ireland Munster Debating Competition. Well done to Conor Quigley, Donagh McSherry, Adam Hassett, Filip McIntyre, Bobby Quigley and Emmet Kennedy.

Bobby Quigley ably opposed the motion that 'This house believes that the Catholic Church should waive its position on celibacy', in the UCC debate. Conor Quigley gave a fine speech opposing a lively motion that 'Teachers should not have a right to strike during the academic year'. Donagh Mc Sherry gave a very cogent speech on the same motion.

Filip McIntyre gave a compelling speech opposing the motion that 'Environmental Activists should be allowed to use any means necessary to stop industrial action being carried out by multi-national corporations'. Adam Hassett argued convincingly on the same motion.

We wish the boys every success in the coming weeks.
