Garda talk on vaping and drug use.

Thanks to Garda Maureen Finnerty from Nenagh Garda Station who spoke with our Third and Fifth year students about the harmful effects of vaping and drug use on young people’s physical and mental wellbeing.

Garda Finnerty also spoke about the legislative aspect of being caught in possession of drugs and how this could lead to a criminal conviction and affect future job, applying for travel visas and so on.

Sergeant Ger Harrington also spoke to the students about road safety; ensuring that the vehicle that you are driving is roadworthy and the importance of not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Additionally, he spoke about taking care on the roads and driving within the speed limit. Finally, he reminded the boys that young people work hard to secure a driving license; including the cost of lessons and insurance, but the driving license can be removed via the courts if the rules are broken.

Thanks to Maureen and Ger for a very informative and engaging talk. It is good to educate young people in the dangers and hope that they will make the right decisions going forward.
