Leaving Cert class bid fond farewell.
On Thursday evening the Sixth Year Graduation Mass took place. The mass was celebrated by Fr. Rexon Chullickal in St. Mary's of the Rosary Church Nenagh. Mr. John Flannery and his colleagues in the Religious Education Department coordinated the beautiful liturgy for the Graduation Mass. This was enhanced by the beautiful music led by Miss Claire Spillane.
Ms. Laura Kearney, Year Head, welcomed teachers, students and their families to the Graduation Mass and Ceremony. Ms. Karen O' Donnell spoke about the achievements and accolades of the cohort, highlighting their character, leadership and outgoing nature. She recognised the contributions made by the boys to the school and wished them well in their endeavors. School President Conal Daly reminisced about their school days; remarking on the resilience shown by the boys during the Covid Pandemic in particular. He praised the character of the boys and how he was sure friendships would endure long past their school days. He acknowledged the hard work done by parents and teachers to get the boys to this point. Finally, he reminded the boys that no matter their path to remember to face life’s ups and downs with resilience and strength.
Ms O’ Donnell and Mr. Dermot Brislane, presented the Class of 2024 with their Graduation Certificates. Mr. Gary Beresford-Miller gave the Student Council members a token of appreciation. Ms. Mary-Jo O'Reilly presented the Buddies with a Certificate, for assisting our First Year students.
Finally, the moment that all had been waiting for; the announcement by Ms Karen O Donnell of the recipient of the Edmund Rice Award for School Spirit. This year the award went to two deserving students Conal Daly and Jack Mulcahy; two diligent students, who have contributed to the school community in a variety of ways.
Conal Daly was elected as School President and has served on the Students' Council for the last three years. Conal also acted as a Sixth Year Buddy, played music and sang at various events and for school events. Conal was also a member of both the Sixth year Science and Maths Quiz teams.
Jack Mulcahy is a courteous and friendly student and made time for students and staff alike. Jack was also a key team member in Harty hurling team that delivered the school's first ever Dr. Harty Cup title this year.
Thank you to all the students who took part in the mass and to all the teachers who helped to create such a special night for the boys. May we take this time to wish the Leaving Certificate Class of 2024 all the best in their upcoming Leaving Cert exams and in everything they do.
