CBS NOTES

Hurling, Munster Colleges Senior A Championships

The Harty campaign continues for our U19s in spite of a disappointing defeat to St Colman’s Fermoy last Wednesday. After an impressive win over John the Baptist, Hospital, the team were hoping that the luck would be with them again as they took on the nine times winners in Cashel. The team and mentors have been training hard in wet, cold and rain and the challenges ahead are daunting, but the never say die attitude of the team will serve them well. They are due to meet an unbeaten Thurles CBS on their next outing on the 20th of November. Best of luck to all involved.

Delphi Adventures

Over ninety TY students are heading to Delphi in North Galway this week. This has been a tradition in St. Joseph’s for over thirty years and the latest batch of ‘hardy bucks’ to take on the beautiful and wild mountainous terrain of Connaught are ready for the challenge. Boys will participate in a variety of activities from kayaking, surfing, bog snorkelling to orienteering and indoor wall climbing. While weather is expected to be cold, all involved are hoping for some dry crisp weather with blue skies.

Tractor Run

The tractor run for Embrace Farm Safety takes place on Sunday next, the 17th of November. The young organisers, Jack Gleeson, Paddy Quigley, Michéal Ryan, Paul Seymour and Patrick Fogarty, who all hail from farming backgrounds have put their hearts and souls in to their endeavours over the past few weeks. Ms. Michelle Forde and Mr Paul Butler, the teachers who are spearheading the event in the school, have asked for both farming community and school support for this charity fund-raising event. Mr Gareth Gault from Ballymena Co. Antrim, the real name behind ‘Donkey’ who has developed a business based on his ‘Grassmen’ You Tube uploads and his love of farm machinery, John Deere, Massey and New Holland, will be a special guest on the day. The event starts from 12.00 at St. Joseph’s CBS.
