SOCCER NEWS

On Friday 6th October our senior soccer team travelled to Cashel Town FC pitch to play Cashel Community School. It was a very tight affair. Nengah CBS started very brightly with Dan Burke scoring inside the opening minute. Nenagh played some very good football in the first fifteen minutes, however Cashel played their way back into the game. It was soon 1-1.

Into the second half and Daniil Moisei scored a goal to put Nenagh 2-1 up. But once again Cashel struck back with a penalty. Nenagh would be soon up against it as Sean Doyle was sent off after receiving a second yellow card. Nenagh held their nerve and despite been a man down were very unlucky not to win in extra time with Man of the Match, Cathal Conneally, hitting the wood work on numerous occasions.

And so to the dreaded penalty shoot-out; in fairness to both teams, the standard of penalties was amazing and Nenagh CBS won out 6-5 after a fine save from Callan Scully. The game was a very exciting affair with both teams showing tremendous quality.

Mr. Grace and Mr. Lanphier were very proud of the students’ performance and would also like to wish Cashel best of luck in the next phase of their competition.
