Music is an integral part of our school curriculum and is offered as an academic subject to all year groups throughout the school. Our student choir and group of musicians regularly perform at school occasions and liturgical events throughout the year. We currently have a group of Traditional musicians who perform in school on a regular basis. The Music Department runs a Guitar Tuition Programme for all students who wish to learn guitar as an extra-curricular activity.
Students are also brought to live music performances and participate in workshops relevant for their year group.
Every second year, we produce a school musical in conjunction with St Mary’s Secondary School. The musical is directed, produced and staged by the CBS with girls from Transition Year in the Convent filling the female roles. Students from the CBS are offered the opportunity to audition for the male roles and to participate in the orchestra. This is always a very popular event in the town and is very well supported by the community in general, local businesses and schools alike. Our most recent productions have been Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat which was staged in St Mary’s of the Rosary, All Shook Up, Back to the 80’s and most recently, The Addams Family in 2015.
