There is a long tradition of debating in St. Joseph’s, and over the years the school has taken part in many debating and public speaking competitions.
The students have taken part in Concern debates, U.C.C. debates and the Mace Debating Challenge in Trinity College. School teams have succeeded in getting to the Munster and All-Ireland finals of the University Debating Challenge on several occasions.
All of our Transition Year students are encouraged to develop the skills and the confidence of public speaking through their engagement with the Toastmasters Programme for Schools.
